There’s no better place than Enoteca Ojos Negros to learn more about the buzz behind Valle de Ojos Negros, Guadalupe’s lesser-known sibling just 25 miles northeast of the city of Ensenada, a region that has Baja vintners talking about (and investing on).
It’s been almost 12 years since pioneer winemaker Ricardo Hussong’s Bodegas San Rafael winery released Passion Meritage, the first wine to be 100% produced in Ojos Negros, which proved the region’s potential for winemaking. And Enoteca Ojos Negros offers the full line of San Rafael wines, making it an excellent starting point to discover its premium wines and the essence of the region’s terroir, which has attracted the attention of other wineries like Monte Xanic, which has several hectares of vineyards in the area.
You can taste ( and buy!) all of Bodegas San Rafael’s wines in a relaxed atmosphere while you sample Real del Castillo cheese and gourmet pizzas. If that’s not enough, Enoteca Ojos Negros is just beside the famous Hussong’s Cantina in downtown Ensenada, so you know what to do if you’re on an adventours spirit.
